The modern roadway network has resulted in Avoca being very well
located in relation to the main ports and airports. Dublin and Dun
Laoghaire ferry ports are about 1 hour, Rosslare ferryport and Dublin
airport are about 1½ hours away. The area is also served directly by the
national bus service and the rail service to Arklow and Rathdrum. See Location Maps.
Tourist facilities and attractions in the village include fine craft and grocery shops, 2 pubs and good restaurants and coffee shops. The tourist facilities for the Avoca region are well served by good hotels, the Meetings of the Waters bar and restaurant, the excellent 18 hole Woodenbridge golf course, the local equestrian centre and scenic walks. Avoca is an ideal accommodation centre for the tourist who wishes to tour Co. Wicklow and other parts of the east and south-east of Ireland. Day trips from Avoca to cities and towns such as Dublin, Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Waterford are easily made through magnificent and relatively quiet countryside. The scenic and cultural attractions such as Glendalough monastery, Powerscourt and other gardens and the mountains of Co. Wicklow are about 30 minutes drive from Avoca. The modern Bridgewater Shopping Centre and Multiplex cinema are located in the coastal town of Arklow, just 15 minutes away.
